Falling U.S. Dollar May Hurt China, Expert Says

China may not be able to provide the world economy with the stimulus it needs to maintain stable growth if the financial crisis causes the U. S. economy to spiral into a deep recession, Fan Gang, professor at the National Economic Research Institute and the China Reform Foundation and consultant to the People's Bank of China monetary policy committee, said in an interview.

Continued Engagement with China Benefits the US Economy

Continued engagement with China provides a measure of much needed stability in a volatile economy, the US-China Business Council (USCBC) said today. The completion of the latest meeting of the US-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) saw further incremental progress on key issues and reaffirmed the importance of the US's trading relationship with China.

PRC's Economy Slowing, But Still Strong

Economic growth in the People's Republic of China (PRC) will moderate in 2008 and 2009, but it will still remain among the world's fastest growing economies. ADB report projects China's economic growth to moderate to 10.0% this year from 11.9% in 2007, the highest in 13 years. The report forecasts growth to ease to 9.5% in 2009 on the back of a reduced trade surplus and slower growth in investment as a result of the global economic downturn.

ITC Votes to Continue Cases on Certain Kitchen Appliance Shelving and Racks from China

The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of certain kitchen appliance shelving and racks from China that are allegedly subsidized and sold in the United States at less than fair value.
